From Sea to Shining Sea for Children: Discovering God's Plan for America in Her Half-Century of Independence 1787-1837
Published in Paperback by Fleming H Revell Co (September, 1993)
Average review score:

A continuation of the great Christian heritage of our nationOnce I read The Light and The Glory with my children, I knew that their education in American history would not be complete without this book. We were not disappointed. This book continues the narration of the great Christian heritage of the USA. As the settlers struggled to carve out a nation and our fledgling country grappled with issues between ourselves, our neighboring countries, and the Native American nation within our new boundaries, faith in God prevailed. The evidence for perseverence in faith is an inspiration to my children when they face daily struggles that are not as monumental. "Review" questions stimulate deep thought about the moral responsibility each one of us has to our country and our God. As with the first book, this is a great character building tool for our future citizens.

Excellent book useful for the do it yourself gardener. If you have a sunny, shady, wet, sloped or dry location this book has plans for them all. It is useful in designing your own garden or simply use one of the many plans provided. This book takes the guess work out by providing the size, color(s), bloom time and growing zones for each plant reviewed. There is also some information on annuals, bulbs and shrubs that work well in a prennial garden. There are even tips on attracting butterflies to your garden. Overall, this book is full of great ideas for any type of garden you may be planning.

Genetics (National Medical Series for Independent Study)
Published in Paperback by Harwal Pub Co (January, 1992)
Average review score:

Found the book great!Being an IMG who graduated a few years ago, I did not have a very good grounding in Genetics. I found that the subject was tested quite a bit on the USMLE and to prepare myself for the test, I used this book and found that this book made the subject both interesting and gave a lot of detail too.

Give the Lady What She Wants: The Story of Marshall Field & Company. Reprint of 1952 Ed (383P)
Published in Paperback by And Books (February, 1997)
Average review score:

A great book about a great merchant, his store and his cityThis is one of my favorite books. The text is clear, descriptive, and mesmerizes the reader with its storytelling. Inside these pages you will find how Marshall Field and his Company set the standard for retailing in Chicago and indeed the country, and also how the City of Chicago itself influenced the store. The histories of the city and the store are intertwined, and the authors do a wonderful job of explaining the uniqueness of this relationship.
You won't regret purchasing this book. I have read it many, many times over the past 15 years or so and I never tire of it!

God and the Constitution: Christianity and American Politics
Published in Hardcover by Rowman & Littlefield (September, 2002)
Average review score:

Christianity Can Work in PoliticsThis book explains why religious thought should be more present in politics based on the nature of creation. It focuses on the governmental goal of justice from the Christian perspective and provides a sound basis for the Just War theory. This book proves what the founders intended all along that the First Amendment prohibition on the establishment of a national religion should be limited to that clear mandate, nothing more. In other words, contrary to the intolerant views of many of his critics, G.W. Bush is allowed to and should mention Jesus Christ. I commend the author of this insightful text.

Gospel Mystery of Sanctification
Published in Paperback by Evangelical Press (1981)
Average review score:

Puritan preaching on grace at its finest!Jack Miller learned from this book and Dr. John Murray called it the best book ever written on sanctification. It is deep and challenging to read, because it was written long ago in a language style that is a bit hard for us moderns. But it is a deep lake of delightful waters of grace leading to holiness. Though we commonly think that we must produce a holy frame in ourselves, the mystery is that it is all of Christ and all of grace. Bryan Chapell's Holiness by Grace is not as deep, but teaches and applies the same ideas quite well. Many might prefer to begin by digesting Chapell before wrestling with Marshall.

The Gospel Mystery of Santification
Published in Hardcover by Sovereign Grace Trust Fund (October, 2001)
Average review score:

One of the great classicsI do not know of any other books which can properly claim to be equal to this one. Written in 1692, this book plainly shows what real salvation is all about and how to walk in it.
First, Marshall support everything he says directly with Scripture.
Second, against the timeless 'antinomian' error he shows that a faith that does not include faith for sanctification is not a saving faith.
Third he shows in detail the difference between works and faith. He goes deeply into the psychology that entraps so many people, especially of 'holiness' type traditions, from actually receiving the transforming power.
In essence, he shows what the Gospel is and what it is not, in the most convincing way. The church, especially the charismatic church (I'm a charismatic), would benefit greatly by learning more deeply the truths in this book, and in fact many do teach them, but few with the depth and insight that Marshall does here. Moreover, Marshall leads you to Christ through His Word-- all other ground being truly sinking sand.
This book is difficult to read however. Though it is small, the print is tiny, and the material is dense, and the presentation plain. The langauge itself however, is not a barrier.
It was this book that was instrumental in the young life of A.B. Simpson founder of the Christian Missionary Alliance
